DEPENDENCE DAY

Our problem is not our weakness; God’s grace is up to the task. Our problem is our delusions of strength that keep us from seeking the grace that strengthens us in our weakness.
Excerpt From: Paul David Tripp. “New Morning Mercies

Something inside of us just won’t let us be weak.

We can’t let ourselves see us that way.
We can’t let others see us that way.

So we have to live a life of pretend…acting like we are OK, when we are not…acting like we know all the answers, because we are too afraid to ask the questions…pretending we can handle all things, because we think the world will stop spinning on its axis if we can’t.

We pat ourselves on the back for reaching a level of independence and personal success, when the truth is, we feel like failures. Why? Because we were not created to be independent. We were created to be totally, one hundred percent dependent on our Creator.

He wants us to recognize this fact so desperately, He appoints us to assignments we can’t humanly complete…and asks us to perform tasks we are not personally equipped to achieve…and leaves us in fires we are not physically able to survive. All in an attempt to force us to look up; to look for Him, and to Him, and at Him. He allows our weakness to be undeniably obvious, so that the obvious choice is to depend solely on a strength that is not our own…it belongs to Him.

When you come to the very end of your rope, you will find Him there. You will find His perfect strength there. You will find His amazing grace there. If you haven’t found it…it’s because you haven’t run out of rope of the delusion of personal power yet.

Let today be: DEPENDENCE DAY

Let’s celebrate our absolute need for all things HIM today…his strength…his power…his grace…his mercy…his love…his ability…his plan…

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV)

Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.
2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT)
