I pity those who have never experienced the reality of epic failure in life.
That season of temporary utter devastation…that breath-taking moment of loss…that mind-altering state of rejection…
That moment when brain and heart agree for once…the mistake is lived out in breathing color…
The guilt you bear for not feeling guilty…
The shame you wear to cover the nakedness of honest moments of desperation…
All lead to the life-changing revelation that: I am human.
An authentic package of frailty and strength…weakness and confidence…flaws and goodness…
All wrapped in one fragile, yet unbreakable package of humanity.
I am perfectly imperfect.
And today….for once….I find no shame in that.

This day is the first step of a journey of a million miles….
It is THE JOURNEY BACK TO ME.

      • Sorry Vonnie I just wanted to say one more thing as I can’t stop thinking on this… I have been out of the church for a long long while now. I can’t really explain how this touched me, except to say I feel prayer bubbling up inside and feel this sudden longing flowing ..wanting to sit in His presence in a service and just say to Him from my heart “I am perfectly imperfect “… the REAL story… So THANK YOU Vonnie for letting me for a moment feel hope…

      • …with tears in my eyes, i type…tears of gratitude. We do what we do for God and just hope for some ray of confirmation that it is truly what God wants us to do. We pray that somehow through all the options and the clutter that just one person will be touched or moved or changed. It’s the only reason i do what i do…..any of it…all of it. I am grateful that this message reached you. And i am grateful that God used you to encourage me.

        what you feel…that is GRACE. He never stops reaching. He never stops longing. He never stops loving. i am praying for you tonight.
